SHENZHEN, October 16, 2025 — OPPO today formally introduced ColorOS 16, its next-generation operating system built on Android 16, and announced that it will be launched globally in tandem with the upcoming Find X9 smartphone series.
What’s New in ColorOS 16
- Seamless Animation & Fluid Experience
ColorOS 16 evolves from the previous Parallel Animation, introducing Seamless Animation, which aims to make every interface interaction—app opening, switching, gestures—feel instantaneous and natural. - Two New Engines: Luminous & Trinity
The system is powered by the Luminous Rendering Engine, which handles visual elements in parallel to eliminate jarring transitions, and the Trinity Engine, which allocates resources smartly under heavy tasks like gaming or multitasking. - Optimisation for Lower-End Devices (Project Breeze)
To ensure a smooth experience even on more modest hardware, OPPO has introduced Project Breeze, an optimization initiative that extends enhanced performance beyond flagship devices. - Revamped Design & Personalisation
The UI draws inspiration from natural interplay of light and shadow. Users can set motion wallpapers, select from a wider font range, and let AI suggest matching text styles. The Always-On Display has been enhanced so that the lock screen can overlay essential info smoothly. - AI Photography Upgrades & Video Tools
A new AI Portrait Glow feature helps enhance skin tones and lighting in low-light portraits. Other tools such as AI Eraser, Unblur, Reflection Remover continue to be refined. The built-in video editor gains a Master Cut tool with trimming, speed controls, filters, and manual adjustments. - Cross-Device Connectivity: O+ Connect & Screen Mirroring
O+ Connect now supports both macOS and Windows platforms, letting users transfer files or control PCs remotely from their phone. With Screen Mirroring, up to five phone apps can be projected and controlled on a PC via keyboard and mouse.
Launch & Device Details
ColorOS 16 will debut preinstalled on the Find X9 Series, which includes at least two models: Find X9 and Find X9 Pro. The Find X9 lineup is expected to roll out first in China (with announced debut on October 16) and then gradually expand to global markets.
The devices are rumored to support up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage, and the Pro variant may feature a 200 MP periscope camera in partnership with Hasselblad.
No specific global release dates or pricing have been revealed yet. OPPO says eligible existing devices will receive the update over time.
